Surgery for Pets

We routinely conduct spays, neuters and other soft tissue surgeries. Surgery protocols at Chestermere Veterinary Clinic are unique to the requirements of each patient.

We follow the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) guidelines for performing sedation and anesthesia.  We closely monitor blood pressure, oxygen and carbon dioxide levels, heart rate and rhythm and temperature during anesthesia.

Patients also receive intravenous fluids, warming devices to ensure optimal body temperature is maintained and have access to breathing assistance if required.

Surgery for Pets

Intravenous fluids are essential for maintaining normal blood pressure while a patient is under anesthesia. The presence of an IV also provides us with options for your pets pain control, antibiotics, and emergency medications.

A registered veterinary technician monitors vital signs during each procedure so any subtle changes in parameters can be identified and adjusted as needed.
