Melissa Murakami
Client Care Specialist
Alexandria was born in Penticton, BC and was raised in Calgary, Alberta.
She graduated with honors from John G Diefenbaker and joined the Chestermere team as a Client Care Specialist in 2021, her first job! She plans to become a Veterinarian Technician.
Since Alexandria was little, she always had a passion for all kinds of animals and had the pleasure of becoming a pet parent many times. She feels it is an honor to own pets, and enjoys watching their personality bloom and experience life through her animals eyes.
Melissa joined Chestermere Veterinary Clinic in April 2024, bringing a diverse background in human medicine and a lifelong passion for animals. Originally from Michigan, Melissa earned a Bachelor’s in General Studies with minors in Aging Studies and Psychology from Eastern Michigan University. She’s spent her career working in healthcare, most recently as a nursing assistant in a Detroit hospital’s surgical specialty and step-down telemetry unit.
Her love for animals runs deep, shaped by her years of horseback riding and experience working at a barn, where she helped younger riders and managed horse care. As a dog owner herself, Melissa understands the importance of a supportive veterinary team and is committed to helping owners find quality care for their pets.
At Chestermere, Melissa enjoys working hands-on with the animals, giving them comfort and creating a positive experience for both pets and their families.
Outside of work, Melissa enjoys exploring Calgary’s hiking trails with her Staffordshire/Boxer mix, Chloe, as well as photography, and spending time with family and friends.
